IF52448 (EN-52448 or GM-52448) This is a must-have tool for removing the injection pump on your newer mini Duramax 3.0L engines. This tool includes the sprocket holder (which is secured in place with two of the vehicle’s screws that go through the outer slotted holes), pump removal body and forcing screw.
We have remade this tool (the pins, pump removal body, and forcing screw) out of high quality tool grade steel and have made the sprocket holder out of high grade aluminum vs the cast steel it was originally made from. This has made it lighter and stronger than the original design.

Installation Instructions:
This tool, IF-52448, is designed for servicing the fuel injection pump on 2019 and later Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks equipped with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine (RPO LM2). It replaces the original tool, EN-52448, and includes a sprocket holder, a pump removal body, and a forcing screw.
To begin, after removing the rear cover access plate, the IF-52448 sprocket holder is positioned through the fuel pump drive gear. This secures the gear in its timed position and is then fastened to the cover, effectively preventing the drive chain tensioner from extending.
Following the removal of the fuel pump shaft bolt, the IF-52448 pump removal body is placed into the fuel pump drive sprocket, passing through the previously installed sprocket holder. Once the removal body is tightened into the sprocket, its upper hex is held with a wrench. Subsequently, the forcing screw is threaded into the removal body and tightened against the fuel pump shaft, facilitating the removal of the fuel pump from the engine. The pump removal body and forcing screw are then removed from the sprocket to prepare for installation.
For reinstallation, ensure the fuel pump shaft is correctly aligned with the sprocket drive tab or key way. The pump is then inserted into the sprocket, and the fuel pump shaft nut is tightened through the sprocket holder. After the nut is secured, the sprocket holder can be removed.
It is crucial to use the proper tool and procedure. Utilizing unapproved methods will fail to maintain the sprocket and chain’s position, leading to the necessity of removing the rear cover and re-timing the fuel pump drive chain, a significantly more complex and time-consuming process.
